Connect as a community

PILI is a platform to connect. As cultural practioners, we are here to serve as an outlet where we can share and enjoy what we are passionate about. Focused on celebrating traditions and cultures that bring us together., we value collaboration and togetherness - and above all, aloha.

“Aloha I Ke Kahi I Ke Kahi” is a Hawaiian proverb - a plea to love one another. We ask you to call on one another and embark on the first step of sharing aloha.

Check back frequently as we will continually release the updates to our calendar.

Escondido, CA

Pili Foundation is honored to present Sean Na'auao in San Diego to celebrate his new "E Kahiau" CD Release Tour!

World-renowned, multi-Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning artist, Sean Naʻauao, is one of Hawaiʻi’s most recognized musicians.  This year celebrates the release of his latest CD, “E Kahiau” honoring his son, Kahi Boy.

With significant inspiration from Hawaiian music greats such as Brothers Cazimero, Sons of Hawaii, Makaha Sons, and his own ʻohana, Sean feels blessed that he continues to perpetuate Hawaiian culture on world-wide stages.

Seanʻs professional music career began as a founding member of Manaʻo Company, a group that burst onto the scene in the 80s and 90s with their blend of Jamaican reggae and Hawaiian-inspired vocal harmonies and instrumentation. With just their second album, “Spread A Little Aloha”, they secured multiple prestigious Nā Hōlū Hanohano awards; namely, Album of the Year, Contemporary Album of the Year and Song of the Year.

As a solo artist, Sean was awarded another Nā Hōkū Hanohano award in 1997 for Island Contemporary Album of the Year in honor of his “Fish and Poi” album. Sean was also gifted a beautiful Hawaiian song, titled “Ka Pilina” from renowned composer and Loea Hula Lehua Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett. This gift earned him yet another Nā Hōkū award for Song of the Year in 2000. Among his numerous accolades, Sean was a final ballot nominee for Male Vocalist of the Year, Favorite Entertainer of the Year, Hawaiian Music Album of the Year.

With more than 15 studio albums, Sean is proud to announce his latest labor of love, “E Kahiau”, a tribute to his son, Kahiau.

Sean Na’auao performs live on October 7th at The Grand Ritz Theater in Escondido. In addition to his new material, Sean will also play a number of his well-known classics.

Local San Diego Band, Spam and Egg and dancers from Kūhai Hālau O Kawenaokalā’īokalani Pā ‘Ōlapa Kahiko will be performing.
