WHAT DOES PILI MEAN?

PILI is the Hawaiian word meaning “to cling, stick, adhere, join.” Pili is also a grass critical in Hawaiian culture for shelters, and oftentimes, is added to hula altars as a symbol of pili (the clinging) knowedge. Pilina, derived from pili, means association, relationship and connection, and is an intrinsic value in Hawaiian culture highlighting the importance of having strong connections within the family, friends, coworkers, and community.

Pili, or togetherness, is precisely what we envision - bringing together generations and community to leave a lasting impression and legacy.

PILI Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in San Diego, California.
